WHY WE LOVE WILSON – The Village Tavern, Ridgefield
It’s Friday night…. Your significant other decides to randomly surprise you with dinner and dancing at a “place you’ll never forget.” You’re curious, but your date only winks and escorts you to the car. And then you’re on the doorstep of The Village Tavern, for the first time.
You both enter the doors, and you two are immediately greeted by a man who lights up when he sees your faces. He treats you like you’ve known each other for eons as opposed to minutes. His friendliness and mega-watt smile are contagious. You find yourself mirroring his dazzling smile. He asks for your name in a beautiful Columbian accent, and makes you and your date feel welcome. Small talk is never small talk for this man; his interest is genuine. You’re surprised that he knows the name of your date’s favorite band! As you all talk, you have a strong hunch that he’s never forgotten a face he speaks to. Your hunch is spot-on: as you devour your sea scallops, you notice that he treats every guest who walks in the door with the same warmness. Later that night, when there’s live music playing, he begins to dance, the tip-tapping of his shiny shoes harmonizing with the rhythm and melody of the night. You turn to your date and ask, “Who is he?”
The man is Wilson Forero, General Manager of The Village Tavern in Ridgefield, Connecticut. He brings his friendly, jubilant personality to the table along with his service expertise. Wilson, who is Columbian, trained at the French Culinary Institute, and has had 30 years of restaurant experience in multiple 4 star restaurants. People remember his brilliant smile in addition to his exemplary service; he has become the face of the restaurant. He’s often seen dancing on Friday nights at The Village Tavern, and, not surprisingly, loves dogs.
